There have been 3 UK finance ministers in 4 months.

Nadhim Zahawi

Nadhim Zahawi joined Theresa May's government as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families in the 2018 reshuffle. Following Boris Johnson's appointment as Prime Minister, he was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Business and Industry, and in 2020 he was given additional responsibility for the COVID-19 vaccination programme as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for COVID-19 Vaccine Deployment. In the 2021 cabinet reshuffle he was promoted to Johnson's cabinet as Secretary of State for Education. On 5 July 2022, he became the Chancellor of the Exchequer after the resignation of Rishi Sunak. Less than 48 hours later, Zahawi withdrew his support for Johnson and publicly called on him to resign, which Johnson did shortly afterwards. Zahawi was a candidate to succeed Johnson in the Conservative Party leadership election, but was eliminated from the ballot after the first round of voting. He subsequently supported Liz Truss’s bid to become Conservative leader. Following Truss's appointment as Prime Minister, she appointed Zahawi as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster on 6 September 2022.

Akwasi Addo Alfred Kwarteng (born 26 May 1975) is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Spelthorne in northern Surrey since 2010. He was Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from 2021 to 2022, before serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer under Liz Truss from September to October 2022 After Johnson resigned in 2022

On 23 September, Kwarteng announced various tax cuts in a "mini-budget" that was widely criticised and which briefly caused sterling to fall to its lowest-ever level against the US dollar. Kwarteng was dismissed as Chancellor on 14 October after only 38 days. This made him the second shortest-serving post-war Chancellor.

Following the resignation of Boris Johnson over the Chequers Agreement, Hunt was appointed Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in July 2018. He was a candidate for the Conservative Party leadership election in 2019, finishing second to Johnson, getting 33.6% of the members' vote to Johnson's 66.4%. He resigned, effective immediately, following Johnson's appointment as Prime Minister, having declined an invitation to serve in Johnson's first ministry as Secretary of State for Defence. He served as Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee from 2020 to 2022, a promiment role due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After Johnson's resignation on 5 July 2022, Hunt launched a second Conservative leadership bid. However, he was eliminated in the first ballot round on 13 July after not getting the required 30 votes from Conservative MPs, getting 18 instead. On 14 October 2022, Hunt was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer by Liz Truss, following the dismissal of Kwasi Kwarteng.
