Obrafuor Accuses Drake of Copyright Infringement, Seeks $10 Million in Damages

Ghanaian rapper Obrafuor has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Canadian musician Drake, alleging that Drake sampled his song without his approval. According to court documents, Obrafuor is seeking at least $10 million in damages for copyright infringement.
The dispute centers around Drake's hit song released . Obrafuor claims that the song features an unauthorized which he says he never gave Drake permission to use.
"Obrafuor is one of the most respected and influential musicians in Ghana, and he takes his intellectual property rights very seriously," said a spokesperson for the rapper. "He was shocked and dismayed to learn that Drake had used his music without his permission, and he has decided to take legal action to protect his rights."
The lawsuit was reportedly filed in a New York court, and it accuses Drake of willful copyright infringement, unfair competition, and unjust enrichment. Obrafuor is seeking damages of at least $10 million, as well as an injunction to prevent Drake from using his music in the future.
Representatives for Drake have not yet commented on the lawsuit. However, the controversy is sure to raise questions about the use of unauthorized samples in popular music, and the importance of obtaining permission from the original creators before incorporating their work into new songs.
